Well, they did it yet AGAIN! The Hendersonville High School Symphonic Band took First Place at the Festival of Gold competition held yesterday at Chicago Symphony Hall.
This is the 4th consecutive victory for the HHS Symphonic Band over an 8 year period during which they prepare and compete in a National Competition every other year. Previous wins have been in 2008 at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Boston Symphony Hall in 2006 , and NYC's Carnegie Hall in 2004.
Congratulations to the students, the faculty, the parents, and the entire community for the support they have given to make this one of the absolute best high school band programs in the country. This is truly the result of a "team" effort!
If you are ever visiting Hendersonville, be sure to ask us whether the Symphonic Band, the Concert Band, or the Jazz Band are performing somewhere in the area. They are absolutely worth the price of admission which is usually VERY modest (or even FREE sometimes!) Their schedule for the rest of this school year is shown below:
March 26 - North Carolina Concert Festival Brevard College (Opt workday)
April 30-May 2 - Honors Band Clinic @UNC Chapel Hill
May 8 - NC Solo & Ensemble
May 22 - Spring Band Concert
BTW, that's our daughter Tori in the center of the picture above. For a more in depth article and a picture of the entire band click here!
We hope we've given you yet another reason to visit The Waverly Inn in Hendersonville, NC very soon!
