Obsession

I finally fell over the edge.  How do I know?  I could not decide on what vase to put on the dining room tables at the inn.

There were not that many choices. I spent eight days looking at different "things" to put on my nondescript small tables.  Back to the last week in August...By this time I am asking anyone who comes through the place for their opinion.  At the end of the fiasco I took a picture of the crowd favorite and sent it to a friend of mine and asked him what he thought?  He immediately replied with my three favorite words.  "I like it!"  My answer was not YES!  I actually turned around and texted him and asked if I should keep looking.  Can you believe it?  His reply was to tell me not to obsess.  TOO LATE!

This was the day after I painted a soaking tub in one of the bathrooms for the third time in three days because I did not like the last two colors. Do you need another example?  We have had a spa services room since May.  The decor has already been redone.  Yes, I have fallen over the edge.

This behavior got me worried and I started asking my loved ones if they got obsessed over minor things?  Most friends and relatives assured me that they obsessed over some small things but other small things did not bother them at all.  What did they get obsessed about?  When I asked for an example of one of the last times they got obsessed by something all that came back was a lot of sputtering.  They all did agree that the total collapse of decision making on my part was MUCH worse than any problem that they had ever had.

There was something positive to learn from this experience. Never ask my friends and family about their obsessions.  Most would not admit too much.  Or, if they did, they did not want to talk about it and definitely did not want me to write about them as examples of human dysfunction.

Oh, by the way, that same friend that told me not to obsess said to "Leave his chapter out" when I told him I was going to write this blog.  Uh huh!

We hope we've given you yet another reason to visit the 1898 Waverly Inn in Hendersonville, NC very soon!
